Mispronunciation Problems of Affricate Sounds by Iraqi EFL Learners: An Empirical Study in Face-to-Face learning and E-learning

Iraqi EFL learners often mispronounce the two affricate sounds in English: unvoiced /tʃ/ and voiced /dʒ/ owing to a lack of exposure English as foreign language. In this paper, researcher investigates problems, which are vital discuss mispronunciation problems affricates colleges arts. The first problem is why undergraduates face-to-face training e-learning second what phonological process occurs these both types teachings. study relates phonetic approaches analysis formulation such mispronunciation. Firstly, writer uses questionnaire find out differences similarities among arts relating affricates. Secondly, measures when they produce given words. results reveal that teaching there three positions for committing sounds: initial position, medial position final position. pronunciation sound /tʃ/, highest percentage happens it finally. However, when/ tʃ/ medially, was inconsequential. On other hand, takes place initially least comes about medially. e-learning, has negative impact on learning.
